Boy Dreams
What dreams do boys dream now?
What games do they like to play?
What are their sacred cows,
To what idols do they pray?
What enemies do they defeat
With plastic neon swords?
On what fields do they compete,
What risk for what rewards?
All of the land is now known,
All continents are tamed!
What will they do when grown,
What treasure lay unclaimed?
What armies roll with evil intent
Across some hot and distant land,
Where only heroes’ dreams prevent
Success though horribly out-manned?
What heroes do they want to be
In their playground dream?
What honors, what belle esprit,
What light from eyes does gleam?
What leader stands with flag held high
And sings an anthem clear?
Shoulders back, “follow me” the cry,
Strap on your bandolier!
What male tosses the ball and plays
By rules known to men,
And by example he displays
Time and time again
Exposures what’s needed most
By boys in search of man
To become fully engrossed
In a male’s master plan.
It’s not a role for Mom or Sis,
It’s his soul needs a male.
It’s not a dream you can dismiss,
A charge you dare not fail
