Day 17 &18

The Good!

You can, no doubt, tell how pleased we were about our game of golf at The Ledges by the Day 16 post.

The Bad...

On the way home from golf my right ear began to clog... no big deal, probably a sinus infection or allergy. 1 AM on the 17th day I woke up feeling dizzy. Tried to make it to the bathroom but was so dizzy I had to crawl... made it just in time for some projectile barfing with Jill holding my head and her nose at the same time. All next day flat on my back with nurse Jill attending with care and concern, including a late night run to the druggist for some meclizine. World still spinning badly.

The Ugly...

Went to the emergency room at 9 AM. We once had a terrible situation at Eisenhower ER in Palm Desert... long lines, rude nurses, no compassion, ending after 8 hours with an incorrect diagnosis. This was just the opposite. We we're welcomed by concerned staff. The were drawing blood and ordering tests before I was registered. The MRI... you know... the ones that take Canadians 6 months to get under their single payer system... were ordered and completed within an hour of admission!

Evidently there are several things that cause vertigo, most of which resolve within a few days to a few weeks!!! Oh yes, I almost forgot... probably because I don't want to think about it... I'm totally deaf in my right ear and that may not be so easily resolved, if ever.

After the ER they sent me to a Balance Clinic (who knew?) where I was twisted and turned trying to reposition some mystery crystals in the inner ear that can get out of whack. Didn't seem to help much, probably because Nurse Hatchet (Jill) had already performed the procedure on me after reading about it on the web. The vertigo has improved as of 5 PM Day 18. Hopefully it will continue to get better.

So where do we go from here? Can't say. We'll stay put for a few days and see what develops. If I don't post or answer your emails, you will understand why
