Day 2

A good sleep is indeed the best solution for an attitude adjustment. The bed was comfy and the hooligans we’re relatively quiet. We are well armed so have no fear about being assaulted... 38 pistol that I can’t hit anything with but it makes a lot of noise; short barrel shotgun loaded with heavy duty buckshot that I can’t miss anything with; a Bowie Knife the size of a shovel; two Buck knives and a couple of cans of bear spray.

The morning allowed us a better look at our surroundings. It is not as bad as we thought last night. Yes there are some rough looking rigs with rougher looking occupants but there are also some nice motor coaches with touristy types like us. Best of all not 50 yards from our space is access to a bike trail that runs for 28 miles along the Boise River! So with joy I tip my hat to Jill … she may not have navigated us to this spot on purpose but it has turned out better than expected.

The rest of the day was perfect! It was exactly what we had hoped a typical day would be on the road. Answered a few e-mails; had breakfast; made a quick run to a local Walmart (god what’s next public transportation?); Unloaded the bikes and went for a 10 mile ride into the heart of Boise. The trail terminates at the Ann Frank Memorial… a beautiful area and fitting tribute to the little girl who has inspired so many to stand up to oppression. It was a great ride with the river and trees in all shades of autumn colors raining leaves on us as we rode.

While most of the Pacific Northwest was being drenched the weather here was fantastic … clear skies, 70 degrees and a scent of fall in the air. We’re off early tomorrow morning for a 300 mile drive to Logan Utah to visit cousins Richard and Terry Guy. A perfect day with a great sunset.
