Day 3

There’s a lot to think about when pulling a house behind your car. De-coupling from the services provided by the RV park takes time and caution… if you screw up, it could cause a minor problem or the whole shebang could explode. This morning was our first experience with this process in El Gato… it went well and will improve with time and repetition. We manage to get away from Boise by 10:00AM for our 300 mile drive to Logan Utah.

We followed I-84 most of the way. Very stark landscape… hard to believe just North of our route is beautiful Sun Valley.

We bought a book on CD at WalMart … here’s a bit of empirical market data … WalMart has a complete aisle for chips … potato, corn, tortilla, blue corn, vegetable, cheese, cheese and onion, cheese and jalapeno… OK you get it. They have two (half full) small shelves about 36 inches wide for books on CD. Hey, we only need one for today’s journey … if you like Stephen King or John Grisham, WalMart ‘s your place. We ended up with an unknown author's book… a jihadist history mystery … hmmm seems like everyone has one of these, except me.

The drive was uneventful, which is a good thing except parts were windy with a 3 out of a possible 5 on the sphincter pucker scale.

Parked in Richard and Terry’s expansive driveway just outside Logan in Providence. They have a lovely home in a park-like setting with fabulous views. Tessa and Houston (their daughter and son) joined us for a home-cooked meal. Carson, their other son, has recently moved to Seattle. Houston is a Sound Engineer and musician. He just moved back to Logan after several years in LA… in fact, unknown to us, he lived just a couple of blocks from Johnee and Lisa. Tessa has a home nearby with acreage where she trains horses and provides therapeutic riding lessons for mentally and physically challenged kids. Terry works at the University of Utah and Richard is a guru in the application software biz and works from home. Great visit with some very loving and happy people.

The Logan area is spectacular. If we weren’t trying to stay ahead of the weather we’d spend a week here. We will return in the Spring and explore Northern Utah and Southern Wyoming.
